Mr. Ara Tcholakian
Las Vegas, NV
Dear Ara and Family,
On behalf of the Tekeyan Cultural Association Metro Los Angeles chapter, our prayers are with your family on the passing of your uncle, Enger Yervant Azadian. This is truly not only a loss for the Tekeyan Cultural Association and the Armenian Democratic Liberal party, but the entire Armenian nation. The word “irreplaceable” is an understatement.
I am reminded of the tombstone in Providence, Rhode Island, of one of the founding members of the ADL, Hratch Yervant, which appropriately fits the passing of Enger Azadian. It reads “In the forest all the animals were sad for the giant oak had fallen.”
Enger Azadian’s contributions to the ADL, TCA, AGBU and Armenian Church are innumerable. His contributions to the Armenian press were massive. His commentaries in the press were exceptional as his knowledge of comparative literature, culture, languages and international politics as well as ancient and modern Armenian history provided remarkable insight in his writings. In all of his writings, he was always a staunch defender of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Unquestionably, Enger Yervant Azadian was “the giant oak” for well over half a century. The Tekeyan Cultural Association Metro Los Angeles chapter wishes you and your family good health and comfort during this difficult time.
