Nikol Pashinyan promised to hold special parliamentary elections in 2021. A step that was not accepted by the opposition in the sense that the opposition did not agree in any way to participate in the elections organized by the current government, nevertheless, the proposal made by Pashinyan was a step forward to the existing pressure.
It turned out yesterday that the promise was another lie to gain time. Indeed, yesterday, on February 7, the “My Step” faction of the Armenian National Assembly, according to its statement, met with the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. As a result of the meeting, the faction refused to go to the special parliamentary elections, on the grounds that the Prime Minister’s proposal did not receive a positive response from the parliamentary opposition.
Consequently, “My Step” expressed its support for the prime minister and the government, which, based on the support of “My Step” will “have to” remain in power…
With this performance, the general leader of the country, a master of the art of fooling the people, once again proved that he is an unreliable person in terms of keeping his promise.
He reaffirmed that he had mastered the magic of giving with one hand and taking back with the other. It is not a secret that the parliamentary faction called "My Step", which reached the parliament because of a “historical misunderstanding”, is simply an executor of the wills and wishes of the person who made them have their seats in the parliament!
Therefore, it is easy to promise something one day and to renounce the promise the next day on the grounds that the majority of the parliament rejected the proposal ...
It seems that so many lies were not enough. Immediately after the announcement of the parliamentary majority, Pashinyan came up with a 15-point "road map" about the "plans" to be "implemented" in the coming months of his government, which contain nothing new.
In reality, it is nothing but another act of hoax on people. It is not clear how long this tug-of-war will last, especially since Pashinyan is fortunate that the composition of the opposition and the way it works, is contributing more to the extension of Pashinyan's rule than to his resignation ...
However, there is one thing that is clear, that “My Step”s statement may be the result of the fact that they are aware that their credit has fallen so much that it is impossible to get reproduced by holding elections.
Therefore, the government must be kept in power at all costs, with new populistic, though fake promises or proposals to the people by the Prime Minister.
